THE BRIEF
This is our fourth project for African Bush Camps. The brief was to develop an intimate 8 bedroom, tented camp in line with their ethos of delivering authentic African experiences with heartfelt African hospitality. Sourcing from local communities, where possible, and ensuring it would be family-friendly was an important part of the brief.
THE INSPIRATION
Our inspiration came from classic safari style re-imagined in a clean, sculpted and masculine way. We drew our inspiration from the iconic Botswana basket-ware and wove this bold pattern and natural texture into the contemporary ebonized timber furniture. The African Bush Camps brand identity weaves nostalgia through the guest experience, so original, vintage furnishings and natural materials feature strongly. The quiet duo-chrome palette is livened up by the introduction of hints of mustard yellow inspired by the water lily and winter grasses.
THE RESULT
A mix of contemporary forms and shapes in our bespoke designed furniture with moments of classical safari. Hand-selected antique pieces and woven basket-ware create a calm a thoughtful space, reminiscent of a classic safari with a modern edge. Great detail went into crafting the guest experience and designing the hospitality concept from food through to service, to complement the look and feel of the interiors and, most importantly, to offer the guests an experience where every detail has been thought of.
